Blog Birthday Giveaway Winners

Hello there! Firstly, thank you to everyone who entered my blog birthday giveaway.  I was meant to draw winners last night but I had a bit of an unmotivated day so I drew winners this afternoon instead.  I did things the easy way and recruited random.org to pick the winners for me.

The first number drawn was 12 which is the darling Jen from Jennifer Lauren Vintage.  Her first preference was Simplicity 2863.

The second number drawn was 1 - Gjeometry.  She has won Burda 7695.

The third number drawn was 5 - Becstitches.  Her first preference was Simplicity 7967.

And last but certainly not least was number 7 - House of Pinheiro who has won the kaftan top pattern.

A Blog Birthday Giveaway!

Two years ago today I started Petticoats & Peplums!  I had been blogging for a couple of years before that over at Kat's Creations but I felt I had outgrown that space.  I decided to start a fresh blog to help me to grow a bit in my blogging.  Looking back I feel like I have grown a lot since I started this blog.  I am really happy with where I am now!  But in saying that there is always room for improvement so I look forward to seeing how I can grow this blog over the next year.  Now none of this would have been possible without you my lovely readers so I wanted to do a little giveaway to thank you.  I have four patterns to give away so there will be for lucky winners!

No. 45 Make A Fondant Decorated Cake

Yesterday I decorated my first full cake with fondant! It was my first time covering a cake in fondant and was nowhere near as hard as I was expecting it to be. I think now that I have gotten over my initial fear of covering a cake in fondant there will be more fondant decorated cakes in my future. It's not the most perfect cake but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

There are so many possibilities with fondant and I can't wait! I really want to make a soccer ball cake for Corey for his birthday in November. That should be fun!

This cake was made for my friend Maria who writes over at Movie Mazzupial. It was her 3rd bloggy birthday and she had just arrived home from Comic Con in the US so we had a little brunch date and she caught me up on all her stories.

And check out this awesome present she brought home for Corey and I. It is from San Diego from their Dias De Los Muertos celebrations. I love it! She also bought back some amazing painted skulls that are in her garden. You put tea light candles under them and their eyes glow. So cool! So a big happy bloggy birthday to Maria!!!
