I have a problem.....I am a shopaholic! It's ridiculous the amount that I shop and lately I have been addicted to internet shopping which is even more dangerous. Considering we have a wedding to pay for in November all this shopping is not helping me at all. One of my 101 in 1001 was to take the wardrobe refashion pledge but since wardrobe refashion is no longer happening I am making my own version for the month of June.

I Kathrine of Petticoats & Peplums pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 1 month. I pledge that i shall only add clothing to my wardrobe which has been made by myself. I will also be abstaining from the purchasing of any homewares or books during the period of my pledge.

Wardrobe refashion allowed people to purchase clothing from thrift stores but considering thrift stores and vintage make up the bulk of my clothing purchases I am just banning myself from buying clothes all together. The only things I will be able to buy during the month of June are items which are necessary for the wedding but considering I already have my dress and shoes this should not be much anyway. I will also be abstaining from the purchase of homewares and books because quite frankly I am addicted to homewares and books. So basically the only shopping I will be doing during June will be wedding shopping or grocery shopping. Wish me luck!

  1. After a short while, NOT shopping becomes easier than you'd think. If you add up everything you'd spent unnecessarily in the past month and then the past 3 months I bet you'd be horrified. It's a good exercise to do in order to firm your resolve.xx.

  4. You'll feel so much better for doing this! I went without shopping for a month last year and it's honestly had a lasting impression. Sure I still shop (and my online shopping habits are increasing now that I work from home) but I'm not as impulsive as I used to be.
I can go weeks without buying anything now where before I would have freaked out!
