Our Wedding - The Dress

I had a request for some more information on my wedding dress and I figured since my sewing room is all packed for the move now is as good a time as any to share.

My Dress

I bought my dress when I was visiting my sister in London in March 2011.  It was the very first dress that I tried on! We look at a few other shops afterwards but I couldn't find anything I liked anywhere near as much.  And the even better thing is between the dress and my two petticoats I only spent around $400.
My Dress

My dress was from Vivien of Holloway.  It is just their basic shape of dress but in a nicer fabric.  I bought two petticoats also from Vivien of Holloway to wear under it.  They are the softest most comfortable petticoats I have ever worn.  I think I might dye one of them now so I don't just have two white petticoats lying around.

My Dress

Another thing I loved about the dress was that it was completely boned and fit me so perfectly that I didn't have to wear a bra. Win!!!  The only alteration I made to the dress was to made the halter neck strap a bit thinner.  Vivien dresses all have quite thick dramatic neck straps so all I did was fold it in half and add a few stitches to keep it in place.  So that is the story of my wedding dress.  I was so happy with it and I think it suited my style perfectly.

  2. Your dress is beautiful. I love the length. I wondered why the design looked familiar, then you said it was Vivien of Holloway and I realised I'd looked at the polka dot version before.

  4. Your wedding dress is stunning. So gorgeous and what a great price. I still love your shoes ... such a pretty colour. Great idea to dye the petticoats and get some more wear out of them.

  5. i love your dress! Do you think you'll dye the dress as well? I do dye my dresses all the time. I love the belt & shoes, the colours pop against the white.

  7. That gown is very simple but cute. I'm looking for a simple and unique design of gown for my sister's wedding this coming December 2012.
