Are you a serial crafter?

WIP 3
WIP 1 - Scrap Picnic Blanket

Do you ever feel like you are always doing but never finishing?  I do!  And I know why too. I am a serial crafter. I have a serious case of starteritis.  At the moment I feel like I am doing so much but I haven't shared a finished project here in nearly 3 weeks.  I

My problem is I never seem to be happy working on just one project at a time.  There are always so many ideas floating around in my head and I feel like I need to start them all before I forget them.  I usually have at least 2 yarn projects going at once plus some sewing.  I tag team all my projects so while things are being completed bit by bit nothing is really getting completely finished.

Sewing is a lot easier for me to do during the day when Imogen is napping.  The problem is during the day there are usually so many other things that need doing too.  Housework, cooking, showering etc etc.  And given that Imogen only has 2 naps a day I have to do things in order of importance so usually sewing gets put to the back.  Because of this my sewing projects take me a while to get completed.  Especially now winter is here and all I want to do is curl up on the lounge and knit.

Do you do this?  Are you a serial or a monogamous crafter?

  1. I hear you Kat! I used to be a serial crafter too...but then my little one stopped taking naps and then my downstairs neighbour started to complain about how loud my sewing machine was. :( Once that neighbour moved out I thought I'd be on a crafting spree...and I was for a while...and now I'm trying to prepare for a market, which leaves no time to do anything else! Le sigh...there's just not enough time in the day to do all the crafts we want to do!

I hope you can find a good balance to get everything you want to do! :)

  2. I am totally a serial crafter. I tend to start something new if I get stuck on the current thing I'm doing. I can't wait to see all of your finished projects. The Chuck sweater looks like a lovely pattern.

  3. i am totally monogamous. the most serialness (seriality? whatever - you know what i mean!) is in cutting/ tracing a couple of projects together. i always sew each one up first. on the odd occasion where i need to grab a zip or buttins, i might start something new, but not as a rule.

  6. YES! My problem is starteritis as well! Almost as soon as I've started a project, I am dreaming of my next one. i can't help it. But I have tried to be much better about actually finishing, or nearly finishing. Before I start a new project I always try to make sure that there is just a hem or something easy to finish on my last one before my new project begins.

I also find having a list is beneficial, keeps me on track :)

  7. I am guilty of half finished projects. Right now I have a 3/4 finished blazer hanging up but all I can think of is making bracelets and pretty dresses. *sigh*

  8. I do tend to be a serial crafter! But, almost all of the crafts relate to sewing, fabric, thread in one capacity or another. I'm trying to focus right now on garment sewing. (following you on bloglovin' as well so will be kept up to date of your posts!
